....Mother's Day, if a little late...

The 'Net doesn't share any holidays in common with the User-world usually.

However, as a result of repeated exposure to other cultures and some VERY enjoyable holidays, the Matrix families have been picking up a few new traditions. Though, mostly, the holiday is being celebrated because it is just plain NICE.

The plain DOS of what's going on right now is this. Bob, Enzo and Matrix have planned, prepped and piled all members of the family into various vehicles for a picnic in the park.

Many aspects of Bob's lifestyle changed when he became a parent. One of them was his mode of transportation. His old car was only a two-seater, after all.

Oh well. Dot's car is a bit less macho, but he can live with it. Right?

Enzo still prefers Bob's car... and he would tell you so if he were not currently busy dangling a toy just within Mairi's reach while trying to keep everything else out of her reach.

But. Yeah. Machismo. For reals.

Bah, Bob's car.

This is what Matrix's dream car is.

But AndrAIa would never let her daughter anywhere near that monster, so he has to settle for whatever still-kick-ASCII car she can dream up and build for the pair of them to ride around in.

He has to admit, it's still pretty good, even if not the ideal.

Of course it's a kick-ASCII car, his wife's a mechanic and she won't settle for anything less. The car is loud, powerful, and most importantly, loaded with any and all safety features the Game sprite can think of.

And thus, with their daughter in the back of the car, with Frisket watching over her, the other half of the Martix family head for park with the engine at full roar.

Well, with these cars arriving, would anyone be expecting this? Coming in at his own time, Welman did not bring a car, mostly because he hadn't gotten around to securing one, but also because he wouldn't need to be carrying anything besides himself.

That being in mind, he was riding upon the new rage in Mainframe, a zip-scooter which relies more on manual control (something more easily performed while also controlling an exo-suit) and less on shifting weight and balance. By sheer coincidence, it was alot like a User device of a similar setup.

"Hi, Dad!" calls Enzo, leaning over the door. "Look, Mairi, there's Grandpa!"

Except don't look, 'cause you're in your car seat. Scan. Whatever.

"Hello, son."

The scooter comes to a gentle halt as it lands nearby. Stepping off, he lets the handlebar fold down into itself and the pad shrink down into something that fits on the exo-suit's wrist like a cufflink. Now heading to the car, Welman greets Mairi with... Okay, nulls can't smile, but let's just say his null-form is rather vibrant and perky today.

"Hello, Mairi. How's my grand-daughter today?"

The little sprite's making with the grabbies? Alright, then. He gives her an ex-hand to do so with. No, he didn't remove it from the suit, you silly people. Even if she found that funny, you wouldn't want her to try that when he gets his body back, would ya?

"Active," Enzo answers for her. Hey, bring a baby who can sense people's positions to a family picnic and she'll start getting excited before you're halfway there.
mendanddefend_archive: (Mairi: Ooh what's that?)

The exo-suit's finger is getting nommed on, surprisingly eagerly given that it's made of metal.

"Easy there, Mairi," warns Bob. "You don't know where he's been."

"Relax, my boy. I took my suit to the cleaners shortly before this outing."

A perfectly innocent statement with an ultimately humorous double-meaning. Also, the strange question of...who do you take these things to?

The next thing to land is the safer-than-a-padded-Volvo Matrix-mobile.

Daddy gets out first, then tries to wrest Ana from her kiddie seat.

It takes about three nanoseconds. Two-and-a-half more than if he'd actually bothered to read the manual.

AndrAIa exits next, waving her greeting the the amassed family before turning to watch her husband struggle with the car seat.

Ana just giggles and squirms in her seat, finding her father's frustration to be great fun.

"Hi, guys!" Enzo waves to AndrAIa and smirks at Matrix. "Need any help?"

[identity profile] renegade-enzo.livejournal.com 2010-05-31 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Matrix, who might've said something he shouldn't as he undoes the last fastening, goes "No, I'm fine," and picks Ana out of her seat.

The seat that will now need replacing.

Mairi is eager to see her new cousin, so much so that Bob has to pull her back forcefully before she flies out of his arms to greet Ana. (Flying in the house is one thing. Flying in Floating Point? BAD IDEA, kiddo.)

(Massively bad idea, Kiddo.)

"Hello, Sprout," AndrAIa greets, digging around in the car for baby supplies as well as their contribution to the picnic meal.

Ana, for her part, peers around the new surroundings curiously, squirming in her father's hands as best as she can to look around.

"Hi, AndrAIa. Hey, Ana! How's it goin'?"
